Full service kitchen design and remodeling
Location: Fountain Hills
Style: Mid-Century
At our Grandview project, we remodeled the kitchen, fireplace, most of the flooring, and the stairs. This project turned from dark and outdated to inviting and incandescent.
We started this project in the kitchen. Before there were dark raised paneled cabinets with an overbearing soffit above the peninsula. The physical layout of the kitchen did not change drastically, rather decisive tweaks were made to make this kitchen breathable. By removing the soffit above the peninsula, dropping the countertops to one level, and moving the microwave to a base, this kitchen is now more functional. We added a beverage fridge next to the refrigerator for additional drink storage. For the selections, our client went with flat panel walnut cabinets. For the countertops and backsplash, Taj Mahal quartzite was chosen to add warmth and some beautiful movement. For the lighting, three medium sized pendants with gold metal were placed strategically above the peninsula to compliment the other gold accents throughout the home. To complete this kitchen, our client wanted the hood to be a bold statement. For the hood surround, marble tile with gold Schluter accents were used to make it more sophisticated.
With the fireplace, we cleaned up the drywall and added black slate tile that runs from the floor to the ceiling. Next to the fireplace we added a bar with matching cabinetry and countertops to the kitchen, and in the niche, the black slate tile was used for the wine rack backsplash.
The flooring stayed the same travertine in the foyer, entry hallway, and kitchen. On the stairs, fun animal print carpet was chosen as a runner and entry rug. For the rest of the house, real hardwood was used to continue the wood tones throughout the house.
We love how this house turned into this beautiful mid-century modern home!
